The Ultimate Revelation Of How To Clean Motorcycle Helmet

A motorbike helmet is crucial in making sure that your brain and other parts of your head are safe if an accident happens. However, just like any other type of clothing, after several rides, the helmet is prone to getting dirty. While the outer dirt makes it look gross, the sweat on the inner side may cause odor. Also, if a helmet is not well maintained, it can comfortably wear off compared to the one that has always been taken care of. That is why you need to regularly clean your helmet to keep it in the right condition. The following is a guide on how to clean motorcycle helmet.

Get what is needed

Get everything that you may need to clean your helmet. Some of the things that you may need include, water tub, screwdriver, cotton buds, paintbrush, non-abrasive sponge, shampoo, and soft wiping rag.

Remove all electronics or accessories, both internal and external

As necessary as this may sound, it is a step that many usually ignore, only to see its importance when already late. Before washing a helmet, accessories such as microphones, Bluetooth communicator, batteries, and any other units attached to the helmet need to be removed.

If your helmet comes with a removable interior, remove it

Even though manufacturers come with varying designs, removing the inner part of a helmet is not always hard. In most helmets, liners and comfort pads are attached with hooks. But, some of them use magnets or even snap materials.

Prepare the outer shell of the bike helmet

The outer part of the helmet is usually coated with bugs and caked dirt. To clean this part, what you need is a microfiber towel, soak it in warm water and wipe the outer shell. By doing that, you can soften the dirt and that way you will not scratch the helmet when cleaning it later.

Clean the internal part of the helmet

The inner part of the helmet is the one that usually needs cleaning. From sweat buildup to hair oil, the inner side of the helmet gets so dirty.  As you clean, fill the tub or a bucket with water, add baby shampoo and then scrub each part of the helmet in the soapy water. Rinse the lining and leave it to dry.

Cleaning the exterior

After you remove the wet rag that you earlier placed on the helmet, it’s now time to take the rag off and put it aside. Get another clean and soft rag to wipe off the dirt left on the outer shell. When cleaning the outer part, always use warm water as some other detergents may bleach or spoil the shell. You also need to get the right information on how to clean motorcycle helmet visor.

It’s now time to keep the helmet’s face-shield clean

Many of the modern bike helmets come with shields that are furnished with a coat to protect them. With that in mind, avoid using any cleaning detergent other than warm water. Just take a soft and wet piece of cloth and carefully wipe the helmet’s face-shield to eliminate dirt.

Assemble the helmet

It’s now time to reassemble your helmets starting with its cheek-pads and the liner. Attach any other accessory that you had removed earlier.
